Yes, you must have faith in God. "For without faith it is impossible to please Him." However, did you know it is nearly as important to have faith in... yourself? You must not only believe in God, and what He has said (not only believe that He has said it, but that it is true, and shall be), and then act on it, but you must believe that you heard it, heard it correctly, and that if you act upon it you will receive results.
Now, I'm not saying that faith in yourself is as important as faith in God or even the same type of faith. You can say, "The sky will turn purple tomorrow," and believe it all you want. That doesn't matter. (In and of yourself, you have no authority. Our only authority comes by way of Christ.) I'm talking about faith in yourself only as you believing that you can and have heard God, only to the point that you believe that this is for you, that you acting on the word of God can affect the world (physical, mental and spiritual) around you.
We are God's agents in this world. Too many Christians sit back and expect God to do everything. He expects us to do, and then He'll work through us. He expects us to work our faith. He speaks, we act, He does through and around us in response to our doing. (Why? Because He wants us to share in it, to participate in it, to have a piece of it. He wants us invested in it. "The sword of the Lord and of Gideon." But that's an entire other subject.)
But what happens if you think you aren't worthy? What happens if you think, "Me? God can't be talking to me! What am I?! " Then the whole thing breaks down! God's word (His instruction to you-- yes, you) lays there. You have to pick it up, give it life in this physical realm. God's words are spirit and life. We give that life physical body in this physical realm, to move and act in the authority here.
That's not arrogance, but it does take courage. If you start getting arrogant about it, you better step back and get a hold of yourself. As long as you are sure you're not being arrogant, and that God has said what you are believing, then have courage and move forward as if it were already so-- a fact as unquestionable to you as the sun rising in the morning and setting in the evening.
