If I could only tell you one thing it would be this: There is a God, and He came to earth in the form of a man named Jesus of Nazareth, who was as fully human as He was fully God. 100% God. 100% human being.
If there is a man anywhere near you I want you to look at him for a moment. I'm sorry but for the full effect a woman won't do. If there is not a man anywhere near you I encourage you to do whatever you have to do to get up and look around and find one. Now, look at that man. See his flesh. Know that he is a living, breathing human being just like you are. He has thoughts, emotions, feelings, dreams, hopes, desires.
Now realize that Christ Jesus is as real as that man. He is a man just like that man.
Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
Hebrews 4:14-15
Jesus is real. Right now, right this moment, Jesus is.
Jesus did die once. He was murdered, offered up as a sacrifice in our place. The law of God requires blood be spilt for sin. In the Old Testament they did this with animals. In the same way Roman Catholics today go into a confesional, the Isrealities of old would go to their priest with an animal to be sacrificed -- killed -- for their sins.
For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.Romans 6:23
Jesus was sacrificed, once and for all, for all the world. There is no longer need for sacrifice, the one sacrifice has been given. So it is true that Jesus did die once.
But what we forget is, He rose from the dead. He came back to life and walked again among men. He ate and drank, and taught and laughed. We forget He never died again. After He died once, He rose to eternal life. Jesus is alive today, sitting in heaven, as alive as He was 2000 years ago when he was first born, as alive as when he arose again on the third day after his sacrifice, as alive today as the man you looked at a few moments ago.
All you need do to be that alive, all you need do to enter eternal life and not have to sacrifice and die for whatever your sins and mistakes in this life might be, is simply accept that He is indeed alive, that He indeed did die as that one eternal sacrifice for all the evil you might have done or thought to do, that He rose again, and is ever willing to be there for you.
At the bottom of every page on this site is a prayer, and if you will say this prayer aloud as a token of that belief, and you will speak that belief to others (for Jesus said "if you deny me before men I will deny you before the Father who is in heaven, but if you confess me before men I will confess you before the Father" Mathew 10:32-33) then you too will be a part of the family of God and all the benefits that entails.
"Jesus, I believe that God is your Father and that He sent you from Heaven to Earth to die in my place so I would have eternal life and no longer be condemned. You are now in charge of my life. What you say goes. I will turn away from those things I knew were wrong but did anyway. From this moment on, I choose to follow you. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me. And thank you in Jesus's name, Father God, for adopting me into your family, loving me, and calling me your own. Amen."
If I could only ever tell you and everyone else one thing, that would be it. It is the most important thing you could ever hear, and the most important thing you could ever do.
